In another iteration of the famous play "Forever Supper" the end of time has really just begun. Terranus in his infinite appetite is ready to devour a course of delicious planetoids and stellar wine. Around him are six Automata that will help achieve the goal without any anomalies. Mere protocols engineered at the beginning of time as a constant reminder that all things have an end.

God Emperor Terranus the Saviour of Humanity and now the End. After hundreds of thousands of years, his mission is now near complete, and only one last action remains. For a new beginning, there must first be an end.
And what better ending than a happy one at the supper table, eating one last meal? Terranus brought to his mind all the suppers he had back when he was still in human form. Suppers with friends and loved ones, with colleagues, and alone. He remembers the conversations, the sharing of good news, the laughter.
 He releases the protocol codes and the Automata begins the destruction. With surgical moves they strip layer after layer of human activity, devouring all life and leaving the planetoids bare and ready for the new cycle.      

Like a tired man taking his supper after a long day of work, satisfied but also sad. As above so below, the symmetry is stunning.

The menu includes fresh and juicy planetoids with sweet and sour sauce and spicy stellar wine to wash them down.

He was the first victim and so will be the witness of the last one.

He was the first son to witness the creation and he will be the last to see the destruction.

'Love has no limits' or does it? What if you love someone, that is from a gender, that your government or your church does not allow? What if you love someone, that lives in a country, you can't go to, that has a different social status, skin color or religion? How can you love yourself, if you feel like living in the wrong body? Who decides, what 'true' love is (as long as two or more grown ups agree on this). Does love have any meaning, if it's not filled with action? Can someone 'buy‘ love, is there a shortcut to become loved? 

'The Church of Love' tries to deal with all this questions and is part of an ongoing series of OG crypto-artist Shortcut, in which he explores all aspects of love as the main force, that makes us human. For this work he collaborated with the young female artist "Apollinariya_arty“. After having a lot of in depth conversations about the power of love and about the impact, that the crypto-art movement had on his own life, he wanted to take action and prove it by introducing her into this space. Much love and thanks a lot in advance for supporting the idea! 

Statement from "Apollinariya_arty“: Love in each of its manifestations is for each of us a support under the feet like a warm 'house' in the heart, where you always find your motivation and the meaning of life. In all its different manifestations, it unites many different people with their preferences and views in one goal - to love and to be someone and to be understood.

Outside the room you can see one of the towers of 'The Church of Love' and how love spreads from there to the whole world.

The pink room is filled with different symbols of love, as well as fruits representing male and female powers, stars, crosses and flowers.

"Loving your enemies" is probably one of the most difficult forms of love and in times of war it even sounds sarcastic. 

It is still important to remember, that violence is often a result of a lack of love. A lasting peace in the world can only be achieved if all people are equally well off and have a chance to be loved. Therefore, the dove symbolizes hope in the peace-making power of love.

Cupid is the god of desire, erotic love, attraction and affection in classical Roman mythology. A person who is shot by Cupid's arrow is filled with uncontrollable desire and has no other choice but falling in love.

Behind this is a certain belief in fate, the assumption that people have no free will, but are helplessly at the mercy of the play of the gods.  On the other hand, it also provides a good excuse when people fall in love with someone they had better not fall in love with.

Another reference to the LGBTQ+ pride movement in combination with a symbol used by Shortcut in 'Join the Church of Love'.

It describes the self-confident and thus proud handling of one's own sexual identity, being who one is and standing up for one's rights.

This self-portrait by Shortcut is a reference to another work in the cycle titled 'Join the Church of Love.'

It is about the question of whether it is a good idea to join a love cult or to buy someone's love.

The demon girl represents the darker forms of love, the desires that one needs to face and accept to be able to experience love in whole.

'The Preacher of Love' cannot stop talking about love. He tries to convince others that love is the only power that can save humankind from destruction. He has reached a certain status of bliss by beginning to put his acquired knowledge into practice. 

Nevertheless, caution is advised here, because it is not a matter of listening to the honeyed words of a preacher, but it's essential that each individual finds and walks his own path.

It is a shame how people, churches and governments try to tell people who to love and what kind of love is right or wrong. 

There is only one love and who could be against it as long as we are speaking about the free will of adults?

The ability to love others requires the ability to love ourselves first. But in times where our self-image is more and more shaped by ideals of beauty, which are determined by social media filters, it is increasingly difficult for us to accept ourselves as we actually are. True beauty comes from the heart.

The character is based on a photographic self-portrait of the young Shortcut, in which he expressed his love for music.

He used it to illustrate one of his short-stories called 'Little Romance', in which he reflects on the love of a musician to his instrument.

Like in music, love is a lot about rhythm, timing and harmonies.

The figure draws the line to my character from the AsyncArt Genesis piece 'First Supper' called 'Stat(u)es of Liberty'.

It is wearing a 'Guy Fawkes‘ mask as used by the hacktivist collective ‚Anonymous‘, which fights against human rights violators, censors and dictators. 

It holds a knotted pistol, which is an allusion to the work "Non Violence" by the Swedish artist C.-F. Reuterswärd and which is standing in front of the UN headquarters in New York as a peace symbol. 

Unlike the famous role model, the figure has not broken the chains, but feels bound by the laws of love.

The title borrows from the song 'Liberation' by Outkast, which has a very special meaning for the artists involved.

The alien has hidden his true identity for a long time. It represents love for ourselves, regardless of who we are, where we come from, or what society seems to expect of us.

The Love Table is made by hand, with love and soul. Please also pay attention to the fluffy carpet.

'The Kiss' is a tribute to the world-famous painting of the same name by Austrian artist Gustav Klimt and symbolizes the glorification of the love of man and woman. The couple seems merged in everlasting love. However, fusion always means dissolution of one's ego. Are we ready for this?

Cockroaches always seem to be there whether you like it or not. They have a preference for warm and dark places and try to take advantage of their ability to enjoy human beauty regardless of their own ugliness.
